Chemo Day #4 ✔

Today was the last day of chemo round one, the dreaded “AC”, which is a combination of Adriamycin and Cytoxin. Adriamycin is lovingly (not) dubbed the “Red Devil”. It literally is red and is a little creepy watching it run through the IV tubes into the port. It is toxic enough, the nurses have to suit up to inject it into the IV line. Eeeek! The Cytoxin is an alkylating agent, one such type is a mustard gas derivative. Fun stuff, huh?!? It is still amazing to me that I have had very few side effects besides losing my hair and some fatigue. I truly am blessed and I know it is your prayers at work. God is good, all the time!

In two weeks, I will start round two, which will be every week treatments of Taxol for a maximum of 12 weeks. They will stop early if my blood levels tank or I experience neuropathy, which can be common I guess. She is confident I will handle it well too. She keeps calling me her poster child and I asked her why today. It’s because my blood levels have been so good. I have a slight case of anemia, but it is barely below the minimum level. Again…God is good, all the time! Please pray for tolerance for this next round too.

I had such a fun week last week. While in Smith Center the weekend before last, we decided to

have a gathering here this past weekend to help my folks celebrate their 40^th wedding anniversary. They were here, of course, and Barbie and her whole family were here, Jody and

Jerry, and Kellen came with all three grandkids (Kyle and Caitlin had to take a horse to KC and Angela had to work). We had a great time visiting and playing (dominoes again).

On top of that, Mom and Jody made a surprise visit last Thursday. Jody needed to do a little shopping, but the main reason they came was to help me finish the jigsaw puzzle that Angela and Caitlin started when they came probably six weeks ago. It has been on the end of my dining room table gathering inches of dust (as Scott liked to tell the story). It’s just way more fun to put them together with others! So, we finished the puzzle and had fun visiting. I got to see them both three times in one week! What a treat! They are such good medicine for me.

My sisters and I all have identical “Sisters” frames that we try to keep updated pictures in. Unfortunately, we haven’t been very good about getting a recent one, but we managed to do it while they were here this weekend. It’s sometimes hard to do, because we get too giggly. Our new thing is to tell each other to “Put your arm around me and pull back my neck!” If you’ve seen the movie, “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2”, you'll know where we got that!!! Hilarious movie!
